General Information
Fast Ethernet LAN products have a wide range of new features and capabilities. Auto-sensing, Auto-negotiation and Full Duplex capabilities are optional requirements to the Fast Ethernet (IEEE 802.3u) standard.
Knowing equipment capabilities is essential to optimizing network system performance. Links can be established using three different types of Link Signals. Connecting equipment with mismatched signal types can cause high error rates and collisions on the Link. In just three seconds, the LANMASTER 25 decodes the Link Signals and displays the exact configuration and signal type of the equipment connected to the Link.
The Model 25 also verifies Link connectivity to the far end, tests for reported faults, determines polarity of the outlet or cable, transmits Link Signals for identifying a connected port and generates an audio tone for tracing cables with a tone probe.
